GoogleTalk

General No Comments »
I've just started using GoogleTalk as my IM client, because the people that manage the infrastructure here at my new place of employment have got the firewall locked down so tight nothing else can get out of the building! I have to say I'm really impressed! I really like it - its a nice light client. You can customise your available/busy status messages. Its got VOIP built in (not tried it out yet though). Best of all its integrated into the GoogleMail site! If you don't have the little widget open on your computer, but you do have GoogleMail open in a browser window you will get messages popping up in AJAX windows within the browser. Much to my amusement for all of 5 minutes, when a message is first displayed, if there is a emoticon eg. ;) it'll actually be displayed so you can see the face clearly. The wink emoticon display with the ; above the ) and actually winks at you!! ahhh.... little things.... Take a look for yourself http://www.google.com/talk

BlogCFC 5 Goes Gold!

Well today BlogCFC 5 went Gold. Raymond still wants to do more to it, but decided that it was time to wrap things up into a released product and a good release it is! I'm loving the new admin - it makes life so much easier! Next job - convert it to work in Farcry 3.0.1!

BlogCFC Revision 177

Raymond's done some more tweaks to BlogCFC. As usual I've uploaded them to my site and there have been no problems with them and MySQL 5. One thing to note - the blog.ini.cfm file was checked into SVN yesterday, but a quick check through shows no changes or additions, so you shouldn't need to upload that unless you're way back pre-beta2.

FujiFilm Finepix S9500

Now that I'm gainfully employed I decided that it was time I bought myself a new digital camera. I spent a while looking at various reviews and prices and finally decided on the FujiFilm S9500. Well my new toy arrived in the post last night!!! Its a lot larger than it looks in all the pictures I seen, but its really very light. Its also covered in a hundred buttons, but still is remarkably easy to use. I just need to work out what about 60% of the buttons do and what all the different modes are. :) I guess the manual is going to be my light reading on the metro for the rest of this week and next. ;)

Interviews and Job Offers

General , Designs of the Time No Comments »
I didn't do a terribly well with talking about looking for a job and now its all over. In fact it was all over after only one interview and I'm already working! I was supposed to have two job interviews last week. One out in the sticks on Tuesday and one in Newcastle City Centre on Wednesday. Unfortunately at the very last moment the Tuesday job interview was 'postponed', because the interviewer had to complete a pitch to a client. ~shrug~ never mind. These things happen.
