I've been using Google Talk for a little while now, because I can't stand MSN and its the only other IM client that has access to the outside world from work.
I've watched it grow from just a very simple IM only tool to a clean IM tool with only whats required. eg. IM, file sharing and VOIP.
I used the VOIP for the first time last night talking to Andy Allan after the UG meeting. I have to say I'm very impressed. The codec that it uses are absolutely crystal clear.
The GoogleTalk beta was only open to those of us with GMail accounts (does anyone not have a google email account these days?), but now its
open for everyone to use.
If you don't want to use the google talk client, its just
Jabber, so you can use the Jabber plug-in in the likes of
Trillian Pro

I'd just like to thank everyone who turned up to the meeting either virtually or physically.
We had attendees from England, Scotland and America, as well as the UKCFUG guys who were at BSkyB's offices near Victoria.
Many thanks to Kev McCabe for presenting for us and providing hosting in his employer's offices.
If you missed the presentation because you were watching the football or for any other reason, you can watch the presentation
here.
Apologies for the feed back at the beginning. Too many microphones and speakers switched on. :D
We had a couple of technical hitches, but nothing major.
I managed to confirm our next breeze meeting during Kev's presentation and I'm pleased to announce that
Peter J. Farrell, one of the two presenters of the
ColdFusion Weekly Podcast will be giving us a presentation on
Mach-II on the evening of Thursday 19th October.
I look forward to seeing everyone there!

I recently grabbed the
latest nightly build from Jeff Coughlin and had it running a copy of our works website on my laptop for a few days before I put the updated fourq and farcry_core files on to the production server.
During the time I was working with it locally, I didn't notice any problems with it. It was all running really well. When I put it live it all continued to run really well. Except for the sudden panic from my colleague who does all the editing of content on the site!

Just a quick reminder that the
Scottish CFUG is having an online meeting this Thursday night.
You don't have to be from Scotland or even Scottish! Everyone and anyone is welcome to attend!

When I first put this blog up before Ray implemented captcha on comments I hardly wrote anything and was (and still am) not greatly linked to, but yet I was inundated with spam! It was ridiculous! I spent more time trashing junk than I did writing anything!
When Ray added
Peter Farrell's Captcha and I turned off trackbacks that all went away and I actually started writing stuff even if it is a little sporadic.
I've been asked to simplify the captcha on my comments, so I have. :)
